SXSW and Jay-Z

Hey hey, it’s Carly. So over the past week I have been so upset about the fact that I was not in Austin, TX where South by Southwest happened. Bands performed such as She & Him, Japandroids, Toro y Moi, Free Energy, Wairpaint, Curren$y, You Say Party! We Say Die!, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, Warpaint, The Morning Benders, Nas & Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, the list goes on and on and on. SXSW is something I have wanted to attend for a long time now, and unfortunately our break ends before the music part of the festival even begins. (So, administration, lets work on this two week spring break thing…please?!) Anyway, I have been living vicariously through Urban Outfitters, and checking out some of the performances. Here is one from Local Natives, a band who’s CD, Gorilla Manor, is in the station right now. You should listen to it! It’s really good, I swear! This song is the first of their album, Wide Eyes. While I didn’t go to SXSW, I did get to see Jay-Z with Trey Songz and Young Jezzy. He was so good live. He played at the United Center in downtown Chicago. Coolest moments by far were of course hearing D.O.A. (Death of Autotune) and when Hova let a girl come on stage with him and freestyle.
