Did anyone else read this?

Keep in mind, this man is almost 64

Crowd lets Iggy Pop down, quite literally.

Seriously? I’ve never considered myself a “punk rocker” in the strictest sense of the term, but I’ve been to more punk shows than I can count, and this is just beyond me. Generally at a punk show, if someone falls in a pit, the nearby people pick them up again, if someone doesn’t seem to want to be where they are, you get them out of there, and when someone in the band stage-dives, you catch them. Not a particularly complicated deal. No one is at this show (or playing this show) because they enjoy getting hurt (at least I doubt it) and it’s just common courtesy to keep it that way.

Oh, anyway, did I mention this is Iggy Pop who fell to the floor at his own show? You know… the legendary innovator of punk rock? The guy you went there to see? I mean, I think stage diving is a little dumb, especially for a soon-to-be-sixty-four year old man, but what runs through the head of a person that lets anyone fall to the floor from a raised stage? The worst part of this is that, apparently, “The audience were just like, ‘What are you doing?’” Seriously? Who the hell goes to an Iggy Pop show not knowing what stage diving is!? I understand that he’s probably not the most pleasant person to lay your hands on, but I’d like to think you’d feel a lot better catching Iggy than watching him hit the floor.

Right, I realize this is quickly becoming a rant, so here’s the truncated version –

Article: NY Audience Lets Iggy Pop Crash to the Floor at Carnegie Hall.
Me: Wait, what? *click*
Article: The title really says it all. But the audience apparently was quite confused as to why someone would jump off a stage at a punk rock show.
Me: …

What do you think? Ever been to a show where this has happened? Ever found yourself as one of the people who let someone drop?

Also, if you said “yes” to that last bit, please let me know what that’s like, because I can’t wrap my head around it.

P.S. I’m sorry that this doesn’t have anything to do with the station, but I’m enraged. I’ll post something relevant soon.
